I bought a tray of mason jars simply because it came with neat dividers. It makes storing so much easier. :) They boys helped scoop in plaster of paris mix and water the appropriate proportions. I found that it hard to discern weight differences beyond those three measurements - empty, half-filled and completely filled. Then we painted the inside glass with white tempera paint and fixed stickers on the appropriate lids. The boys had a lot of fun making these. We talked about chemistry reactions, chemical burns and the importance of being neat and tidy. It was a practical life activity in itself. :)
